Not even EA killed my goodwill (with The Sims) as quickly as TPCi have with Sword/Shield, so congratulations.Ī future with stupidly overpriced DLC (that costs nearly as much as what I had paid for the standalone and complete DS/3DS games back in the day) when already buying both games (sometimes even a third for a sibling), and two stupidly expensive "cloud storage" subscriptions to round out the experience is a future I don't want to be a part of.Īt the moment, the only way that Game Freak can win fans like me back is if they issue a complete (or otherwise alternate) edition with the expansion content on the cartridge, in which case, I will happily buy another two copies, but if not, the Pokémon franchise will have ended at Gen VII for me (and I will probably only consider buying remakes or spin-off games from that point on). As someone who has been a fan for 20+ years, TPCi monumentally screwed up thanks to their greed. Shameful.įor all of the franchise's faults and TPCi's complacency, I still haven't touched Sword/Shield since the DLC announcement, and while I was considering it too, one of my friends sold off all his Pokémon games (and special edition Pokémon consoles) in response.
TPCi ought to apologise for having the gall to entice diehard fans with two copies of what amounts to the same game year in and year out and then have the audacity to charge for TWO console-locked expansion packs for content that should have been in the console game-priced base games that contain substantially LESS content than even the earlier 3DS instalments (and yet the Pokédex will STILL be incomplete!).
